Her book 'May I Bring a Friend?,' which had illustrations by Beni Montresor, received the American Library Association's Randolph Caldecott Medal in 1965. Beatrice Schenk de Regniers, 85, an award-winning author of nearly 50 children's books and the editor of Scholastic Book Services' Lucky Book Club for youngsters from 1961 to 1981, died March 1 at her home in Washington after a stroke.
